I hardly write my blogs in English, but I thought that this one must be done per my anger towards Japanese media.
This is somewhat translation of this article written in Japanese.
Dr Akira Yoshino, a Japanese researcher worked on Lithium ion battery won Nobel prize. It is a wonderful news, especially for me who is Japanese and who used to study chemistry.
My anger raised by watching how Japanese TV is broadcasting this news. No minutes spent on his actual research work, but waisting the time on tear-calling gossips - how Dr Yoshino and his wife are a good couple.
They literally broadcast solely on the gossip and never explain what his work is and the impact given to the world.
Indeed, it is wonderful to have a good partnership, but he didn't win the Novel prize for it, but did for his research.
By Lithium ion batteries, our lives improved dramatically. Our phones, music players, small devices became lighter and more portable.
Before his work, there were many failures by other researchers. Failures or successes, as intended or per accidents, I appreciate all the works contributed towards Lithium ion batteries which changed our world.
Japanese television isn't broadcasting how great this work. Either they think their watchers and hapay citizens aren't intelligent enough to understand this achievement or themselves don't have the intelligence.
An odd thing. People claiming themselves to be intelligent are often not objective enough to notice their own disgrace.
